World Skills Contest
World Skills Contest logo
In May 2019, top technicians across the globe united in Japan to compete in the first World Skills Contest. Similar to the TopTech Contest, the World Skills Contest will take place biannually to identify the best of the best.

Prior to competing globally, American Honda contestants were required to meet the qualifications. To qualify they began by competing at the regional level. From there, winners moved on to the National TopTech competition. First place winners from the 2018 National TopTech competition included Robert Dykstra of Lynnwood Honda, Seth Morgan from Niello Acura, and Orvil Rivera from Export, Bella International. Each of them earned the opportunity to compete in the 2019 World Skills Contest. Those competing, were the best out of approximately 75,000 technicians.

This year’s World Skills finalists included 26 top service technicians from 18 countries.  Among their supporters was Global Honda President, Takahiro Hachigo who was present throughout the entire competition. We would like to congratulate our competitors on doing an outstanding job. We couldn’t be more proud of their efforts.

The next World Skills Contest is scheduled for 2021. If you are interested in an opportunity to fly to Japan and compete against fellow TopTechs from around the world, you should get started now. To be eligible, you must be a Master Technician and your dealership must be enrolled in the Professionals program. We look forward to seeing you compete in 2021!
